Tube, flite and segments have long been the mainstay of KEOGH'S and is due to the quality of the products, the reliability of supply and the extensive range of tubes (or barrels), a huge range of stock flites and the ability to custom make segments its no wonder.
With tubes ranging from 100 mm (4") through to 400 mm (16") and in gauges from 1.6 mm (16 gauge or 1/16") to 3 mm (10 gauge or 1/8") we can supply tubes for standard or heavy duty applications.
Our range of flite pretty much covers all standard requirements. It starts at 50 mm (2") outside diameter flite and continues through to 600 mm (24") flite with hundreds of sizes in between. Whilst our main range suits our own tube sizes we have manufactured many other sizes to suit other machine types and many more for obsolete machines (like the KIMBLE ADENY augers).
Segments are custom made flites that can be in many different outside sizes, inside sizes, right or left hand rotation, different pitch, many material thickness and material types. Notches, paddles, holes and many other profiles can be cut into segments to perform many functions.
TUBE (or barrel)
Our advantage in the production of tube is that we manufacture them with our own purpose designed and built tube rolling machine. We consistently stock at least 100 metres (300') of each size with substantially more than that of our more common sizes. This in-house manufacturer free's us of the 'middle man' problem and allows us to supply the goods to you at a very competitive price.
Our in-house range of tubes covers :-
- 100 mm (4") by 1.6 mm thick,
- 125 mm (5") by 1.6 mm thick,
- 150 mm (6") by 2.0 mm thick,
- 175 mm (7") by 2.0 mm thick,
- 200 mm (8") by 2.0 mm and 3.0 mm thick,
- 225 mm (9") by 2.0 mm and 3.0 mm thick,
- 250 mm (10") by 2.0 mm and 3.0 mm thick,
- 275 mm (11") by 2.0 mm and 3.0 mm thick,
- 300 mm (12") by 2.0 mm and 3.0 mm thick,
- 350 mm (14") by 2.0 mm and 3.0 mm thick,
- 400 mm (16") by 3.0 mm thick.
All tubes feature small weld seams and 100% weld penetration to ensure high tube strength. Before our tubes are put into stock they are prime painted so as not to suffer from corrosion. On request they can be supplied painted to your requirements or hot dip galvanized for even better corrosion protection.
As standard tubes are cut in 15.240 metre lengths (50') but if required they can be cut to custom lengths as they come off the machine. We will supply any length of tube you require and not charge any cutting fee for short lengths. On our large GRUNTER and SWING AWAY augers the tubes are commonly rolled in 1 continuous length, and the longest unit we have made is 32 metres long (105') !.

FLITE (continuous)
Flite - the 'spring shaped stuff' that moves your product. Invented thousands of years ago it has become indispensable in the agricultural and commercial sectors for conveying many different products with the most common being grain. We have used flite to also convey ice, rocks, cement, wood chips and many other strange products and this has only been available due to the flexibility of flite.
Realizing the need for assured supply of key components, the company in 1960 purchased and installed a model 400 Lenham flite forming machine. This, at the time, being the second such machine in Australia, allowed the company to supply not only its own requirements but to also service a large portion of the growing national market.
The strategic acquisition of ACROW Pty. Ltds complete flite forming business has increased the range of flite manufacturing and coupled with a vigorous marketing program has enabled the company to greatly increase its share of the market.
Our stock of flite is impressive to say the least with hundreds of different sizes including those to suit our own range of tubes and countless other sizes and variations.
All flite is cut into 3.05 metre (10') lengths and sorted into bundles of 5 for ease of use. All flites are available in standard duty 3.5 mm thickness and some of the larger sizes (200 mm and larger) are also available in heavy duty 4.8 mm thickness.
Right hand rotation is by far the most common in Australia, and as such the majority of our stock is right hand. There are limited left hand rotation flites available.
Choice of materials is limited to steel only as there are no other comparable materials that meet the required standard for flite forming. If your requirements specify that other materials are needed (due to corrosive materials, food regulations, etc...) then segments may be required.
SAMPLES OF FLITE TYPES :-
Single Flite Standard Pitch
- Conveyor screws with pitch spacing equal to the diameter are considered standard and are suitable for most conveyors of conventional horizontal design.
|
Single Tapered Flite Standard Pitch
- Tapering flite screws are generally recommended to draw friable lumpy materials from bins or hoppers.
|
Double Standard Pitch
- Double flite produce a smooth gentle flow of certain materials. Are recommended for augers or post hole digging and similar applications.
|
Vane Paddle Conveyor
- The paddle conveyor is made of steel paddles on threaded rod shanks inserted through the pipe. Conveying action can be controlled by adjusting the paddle angle. Excellent for stirring, blending or mixing dry or fluid materials.
|
Ribbon Flite
- Ribbon flites are excellent for sticky or gummy materials where the gap between the screw and the pipe prevents material buildup.
|
Single Flite Half Pitch
- Half pitch conveyors are recommended for inclined or vertical conveying and for materials which are very free flowing.
|
Single Flite Variable Pitch
- Flites with pitch progressively increased are used to draw fine, free flowing materials uniformly from the entire length of the feed opening.

WHEN ORDERING, THE FOLLOWING DETAILS ARE VERY HELPFUL IN OUR SELECTION OF THE RIGHT FLITE FOR YOUR APPLICATION :-
- Length of flite required,
- Outside diameter,
- Pitch,
- Bore (or inside diameter),
- Material thickness,
- Type of material,
- Hand (left or right).

SEGMENTS (individual turns of flite)
Unlike standard flite, segments are made 1 pitch or a 360° turn at a time. By welding an amount of segments together you can create any length screw required.
Also unlike standard flite, segments can be made from many materials including (but not limited too) various grades of stainless steel, Bisalloy© plate, high grade steels and aluminium.
Many material thicknesses are also obtainable and commonly range from 2 mm through to 16 mm. Diameters can be from 50 mm (2") through to 1000 mm (39"). Both left hand and right hand rotations are available.
The really big difference from standard flite is the ability to fully customize the segments. All parameters are easily custom catered for to achieve exactly what you are looking for. Typical choices are :-
- Outside diameter,
- Inside diameter,
- Pitch,
- Hand of rotation,
- Material type,
- Material thickness,
- And special notches, holes and other profiles that are not available in standard flite.
